None of you would turn down an F1 engine - but they dont have SQUAT below say 8,000 rpms - remember that they rev to over 18,000 rpms- and have over 800 hp - but they dont have much over IIRC 300 lbft of torque - but you dont hear people whining about those now do you?
The S2000 is made along those lines- to be completly tame unless your really going for it! - sounds good to me.
Well if you had a F1 engine or a nice built hot rod engine, I'd pick the hot rod engine. Like I said, the s2k is OK, but I don't like having to rev up like crazy to get power. I also don't like an engine that isn't fairly easy to make good for FI. The s2k is ok if you wanna stay stock or just do a few mods (I would just tweak the computer and get nitrous if I owned one). Like I said, there is a reason you don't really see drag or even modified road racing (I'm sure there are a few, but there definitely isn't as many as other cars) s2000s.
Sure, it's a great all motor, high revving, low torque engine,,,, but that's only good if you want that kinda engine.

"drag cars. Their engine doesn't go much above 300hp boosted.
Damn tyrone, lay of the crack. I will probaly get flamed, but that is rediclous. Throw money at it, and it WILL break 300 no problem....just like a contour.

it could also be a s/c'd S2K. Like this local car: Omce tuning is complete, the owner is hoping for 350 at the wheels...

Umm, my name isn't tyrone. You have to lower the compression to break 300whp (atleast breaking it in a streetable way). So sure, throwing money at any car will work fine,, but anyways 300hp isn't exactly a great drag car.
Guy (teenager) that has had his s2k for maybe 3 weeks wrecked it tonight. Nothing too bad, lost control being stupid on an exit ramp and slid into a sign. Everyone knew it was gonna happen. It was funny, friends we're racing, saw it right after it happened, called everyone else and everyone left the local ricer hang out and went to the wreck. Except like five of us that didn't really care about it.

Yeah. It was in front of the Verizon store though, so I wasn't positive which one he worked at. Either way, unless he's the owner of one of those stores/restaurants, I don't get where the $$$ comes from.

Higher compression and boost (turbo or centrifugal SC) is definitely possible to mix correctly to well over 300whp. Your tuning window will be a bit
tighter, but any third party engine management system and a good dyno tuner will be able to pull it off.
The ECU in a S2000 or any high-revving factory motor is already tuned to capacity. There's really nothing to be had from a chip (Hondas don't
use chips anymore... hooray VW!) or a fuel computer (i.e. VAFC). The only time fuel tuning and VTEC management come in handy is when you're
introducing more air/fuel into the motor. (So it would be a good idea with the nitrous idea.)
Whoever lost to a C-SVT below 40 doesn't know how to drive his car. It's the same concept as "I don't want to have to rev the motor that
high to make power." Enter gearing. The S2000 will spin to its redline just as fast as your Contours do. First and second gear are hard to keep
off the limiter WITHOUT boost, as it is. Those statements are generally made by people who've never driven the S2K or a Si or a GSR. The redline
isn't as big a deal as the haters make it out to be.
I love you all. You're my special friends.
