That sure is going to suck!
Already companies are planning shutdowns for that week. Others are taking vacation time, and I recently heard that NH is going to start an Ad Campaign to bring residents up North during the DNC.
Alot of people I know that are affected aren't going into the city that week.

I would never use my vaca time for that either. Yeah it'd suck to get to work, but it's MY vaca time.

Robin works at one of the "tour" locations that the DNC will be visiting... should be interesting to see if she can get near her building.
Fortunately I take the T to work (7 stops and about 1500 yards total from my apartment), but, I'll have my eyes peeled the entire time... even more than I do now.

it's not the democrats, it's the STUPID highway department and turnpike authority. it is utterly ridiculous to expect ANYONE to enjoy themselves for those four *working days* of hell when there is no way to get in OR OUT or the city. the secret service only requires a limited radius of controlled traffic, NOT FROM WOBURN TO CANTON! it is because our wonderful highway department does not have the skill nor foresight to plan a logical series of alternate routes around the city. they are going to be routing rush hour traffic into Boston on city streets (which are ALL under construction, mind you). absolute genius. and i am sure they will not coordinate with local cities and towns to monitor traffic and/or shut down construction on key roads during this catastrophe. Imagine having to take 2-3 hours of your day to drive from Westborough to Boston on a 2 lane state road with construction cutting it to 1 lane.
i can't believe my state taxes go toward paying these monkeys.
also keep in mind that buses, the ENTIRE Charles River, and the T (green, orange, and possibly blue lines) will be shut down during those hours as well.

It makes sense, but I hadn't thought about it. They are also closing down the Tobin Bridge. The city really is screwed. We will loose WAY MORE money than we can possibly make on having the DNC here!  This truly is ridiculous! I'd like to see Romney developing a Traffic Plan more than worrying about Out of State Gay Marriage Licences! What the hell does he care! How does it affect MA? Worry about your own DAMN STATE!!! Sorry, that should probably be a second post/rant somewhere else
