That's what I thought too. First I thought just the SE's were that way, but Bob's wasn't... hummmmmm I know I had my tach on correctly as I had my 5" monster tach installed just before the SZ meet, but took it off as it read the same (I thought the stock tach was slow, is was, but not as slow as I thought).

I bet the limiter is more a function of the PIP (profile ignition pickup) than the EEC now, so changing the value in the computer probably doesn't do anything. Car's built sometime in 98 and after seem to not have the rev limiter removed with a chip. My theory, could be wrong.

That was my point though, that the regular chip I had ran to 7500 and the one from Vortech didn't... Mine's a 99...

I have an early 98 and I could run up to 7100 without a chip and now I can run up to 7500 with the chip.

Mine revs up to 7250 indicated on the tach. I would think this is actually 7500 but the tach just hasn't had time to respond. It is still not right, but running much much better. It feels like I have gained maybe 25 hp over stock. I know that is not good, but It doesn't stumble at 4000 rpm anymore.

I have called vortech many times, and the few times I actually talk to somebody, nothing they suggest really helps.

I hooked it up to a scanner the other day, and one of the banks is running richer than the other. Not sure what that means.

You should hook a diagnostic analyzer up and see what the computer sees for rpm. I've noticed that my 00 SVT's tach is "lazy" above 6000 rpm.
The cutoff is 7096 rpm (Ignition/soft limit at 7000rpm) per computer's readings and the tach is maybe at 6900...

my rpm ranges came straight from dynomameter which was reading the same as my tach inside... the E1's might be off a bit, but I am not sure about.
