Hi All,

This dyno plot is long overdue... but it's taken forever to get my car back from being vandalized, etc.

Yeah... I "peak" at 295.4 fwhp, but figure 289 fwhp is really it... unless I up the limiter (which would be highly recommended since the motor is still "pulling" at the fuel cutoff of 6750.)

Vadim at the SHO Shop did a great job tuning the car... but bear in mind that a 9 lb. pulley will put the blower on the edge of self-destruction at redline. (I know... I've already destroyed one blower.)

The good news... the motor is holding up just fine!

Argh... no time to figure out why the image won't show... but I have a hokey page set-up for the time being if you wanna see the dyno-plot...

Thanks Bob, how many miles with the S/C? Also do you run extra oil in the sump to compensate for oil in the S/C system? Brad Noon recently lost his S/C motor to spun bearings and one theory (I think) is more oil in the S/C = less in the oil pan. Whatcha think?

Hey Dan! Um... I still fill the oil to the top of the line on the dip stick. I figure that the supercharger will need oil, but as long as I keep the oil level up after the install, I should be OK for "normal" driving.

I've got about 2,200 miles on the old blower before it came apart. The jack shaft splined end (as it goes into the blower) shredded itself. I've only got about 400 miles on the replacement blower and jackshaft.

Vadim is working on an aluminum baffle that fits inside the stock oil pan. That will help with oil starvation on cornering... but I'm not sure what can be done about an oiling problem at high speed like Brad Noon... that just sucks! Maybe add an extra 1/2 quart of oil? Admittedly, going 130 mph for any period of time on an LA freeway guarantees a helicopter chase and ending-up on the local news... (and re-runs of COPS).

Hey Bob,

Just a small correction the 3.33 pulley is a 9psi pulley. The 2.875 is a bit over 10psi.
Also what bypass valve are you running because the stock Bosch unit blows off at 10psi.

And another thing what do you mean about the fuel cut off at 6750? I can pull all the way up to 7500rpms, but the bypass starts releasing pressure at 7,100rpms

What other mods are you running besides your SC

Picture is fixed. it needed to be in caps. "SVT.jpg" works. "svt.jpg" doesn't.

Thanks for the fix, Chris!

Dan, the Superchips module that Vortech had burned for my car still had the stock limiter. (My car was Vortech's test mule...) I just haven't gotten around to having Superchips reburn the chip to have a 7,500 rpm fuel cut-off.

As far as engine performance goes, I've only got a few other mods: SHO Shop lightened flywheel, SHO Shop Y pipe, Borla cat back exhaust. You're right about the pulley... good catch! Yes, I'm making about 10 psi of boost and that's VERY marginal. With the timing from the Superchips module, I encounter detonation if the gas isn't truly 92 octane or better. (Some of the SoCal gas stations have a bad habit of mixing 87 or 89 octane into the 92 octane tanks. Unfortunately I can tell exactly which stations do this now!)

The 10psi isn't marginal, its actually the pulley size... The prop shaft specifically is the problem, Vortech had a brain fart in their infinite wisdom and didn't think about people tuning up the kit or increasing the boost by using a smaller pulley. The prop shaft itself is not strong enough to handle the extra tension caused by the smaller pulley.
I am working on having a new hardened prop shaft made, I am also working with an engine builder that is going to design a new oil pan for us to prevent the infamous oil starvation and should cost considerably less then Mr. Mirko's pan.
Bob, drop me an e-mail here at work: mrowe@laneautomotive.com

I have some more info that you might be interested in.

I still had a stock rev limiter as well with the Vortech chip. I know the chip was working correctly though as Vortech techs made the comment of "Oh really?" when I called them before sending my chip in for programming and stated the base program for the Superchip took it to 7500... My speed limiter was gone for sure... Is your chip stock from Vortech Mark? Perhaps they made that change after mine...

I have not messed with the chip I recieved from Vortech... yet...
If you look at my most recent dyno plot you can see I took it up to 7200rpms. The only reason for stopping at 7200 was because the bypass starts releasing pressure and the hp starts falling off so taking it any higher is just a waste.

And Brad, I thought that you sent your PCM out after I did mine?? IIRC, your closet was still supercharged at the time I was just getting my car on the road.

Also just for reference here is my plot, take not one where I lift on run .004
