Umm, sorry! Wrong...try again next time. And be sure to read my first post fully before distributing bilge to this thread again.

In that first post--assuming you know how to count--I put up numbers that show the SVT Contour ahead. How is that 'backing up' the Maxima?

This board--while a Contour board--is NOT a platform from which to cock attitudes and revel in superiority complexes. The Contour--in ANY form--is not the be all and end all of 4-door sedans. Yes, it was--without a doubt--the absolute best all-around performing sub $23k sedan sold in America...and it put to shame most cars with twice the price tag. But there are other fish in the sea. Something like the old saying "There's an ass for every seat, and a seat for every ass"

The Maxima--in case you've never driven one--has similar aspirations, but in a larger and pricier class. It is a more polished sport sedan (if one could term it that, with its beam axle rear end) than the SVT Contour. It is quieter, roomier, smoother, more reliable, more comfortable, and has more attention to detail. Period. That is not saying it is a faster, better driving, or better handling car than the SVT Contour--though it does make a very good showing of itself.

Ask around. I'm sure you'll find plenty of Contour enthusiasts in this room that seriously considered buying a Maxima--high praise, indeed, for both cars. One can own a Contour and still be fond of the competitors. I respect the Maxima, Passat, Integra, Grand Prix, Accord, Civic, and even Grand Am--but all for different reasons.

True automotive enthusiasts learn to be considerate of all flavors of machinery.

BTW, with an attitude like yours, you'd have been laughed off the first American University Contour list that was started by Lance Kinley and a couple of others back in April '97. Those were the good 'ole days...
