OK, I got error codes 172 and 112, so I changed the air temp sensor & the rear 02 sensor. Still get the same codes. I am know suspecting a harness problem. Anybody else have this experience or any other idea of what it could be? (Not the ECM........)

Are you sure your other O2 sensor is okay? I had both mine replaced....years ago. Mechanic mentioned better to replace both at same time.

Not sure about the other one, but the code is different, so I have to assume, since I don't get a code for it that it is not the problem, at least not why the CEL is on.

I disconnected the battery for a few minutes. Codes did not clear. Is there a special technique?

Give it about 15 minutes with the battery disconnected and the headlight switch turned on.

The power for the Keep-Alive Memory in the EEC-IV computer has to be bled down through a load and it takes a few minutes.

Alternatively, you can clear the codes without clearing the entire memory by simply pulling the jumper on the VIP test connector while the PCM is outputting codes.
