I agree with you 100%, I am strongly against marriage for my personal moral reasons. I don't think they should have legalized gay marriage. Contrary to what was stated, people with conservative views that you have, and I share need to state their opinions and not worry about the P.C. police.
Hell, whats next, transvestites in the olympics? Oh wait, thats allowed now too... (different topic all together)
But that aside, I think there is a far worse issue with the gay marriage discussion. That is the creation of laws from the bench. When a law can't be passed by popular vote, which is typically the case with issues like gay marriage, abortion, etc. the affected group will get the judical branch to in effect make laws that suit their needs. This is further helped by the appointment of liberal minded judges to high courts.
I think that we need to make the judicial branch more accountable for what it does from the safety of life, or long term appointments to office. How, honestly I don't know. But I do think it is something that needs to be looked into; though I really don't think anything like this will ever happen, they are far too content with the power they are giving themselves. -Nick
The whole abortion issue is way beyond this so please dont bring Another topic into this already mixed up thread.. Lets keep it somewhat on track.... But on a side note.. Until you can have a baby who are you to tell a woman when and where to create one... I do not believe in abortion.. I am against it but Until you give up your body for 9 months...morning sickness bed rest, preclampsa (sp), Dead beat dads, or being the only person responsible to take care of that baby phyically and emotionally Or push out a 9 pound kid... grr nevermind you wont get it anyway
Back on track... Your can have your opinon no matter how ignorant it is... Who the are you to tell anyone their life is immoral? Dont be P.C but there is a way to be decent about the subject.. You make gay people sound like animals.. Like they are not contributing members of society...Like I said before... If gay people getting married makes your marriage and less you have bigger issues to address.....
Nowhere did I try to bring out the abortion arguement, I mearly used it as an example for how people use the courts to get their beliefs into law.
So, you like to tell me how you can sit there and call my opinion ignorant and my moral beliefs are wrong, but then turn right around and tell me that I should respect other people's decisons and moral beliefs???
Nowhere in my post did I call them anything less than human, certainly not animals. I don't agree with thier decisions based on the fact that I believe it to be immoral, and biologically wrong too. Please show me where in my post I compared them to animals or said they weren't contributing to society??? And also show me where I said that my marriage, when it happens, will be any less value because gays have the right to marriage??? I have no issues of my own that I need to address, however I do have my opinions and moral beliefs, none of which can be considered ignorant.
You do more bad for your cause by calling people that are against gay marriage ignorant.

I agree with you 100% PackRat. It truely is the ones that preach tolerance for their choices and opinions, but show absolutely no tolerance for those that dissent.
I watched a debate either last night or a couple nights ago, with a preacher and a gay rights activist. The preacher made his arguement, like has been stated here, that he is not opposed to the gays getting their relationship the same benefits as married couples; like rights to the will, taxes, etc. However, he said, marriage should be for a man and a woman like God had intended it.
The gay activist not only cut him off every couple seconds, but her response to his reasons was that he was intollerant and something to the point that his thinking needs to catch up with the year 2004. Now tell me, where is the tollerance and acceptance in her mind?
I recently read Michael Savage's latest book, The Enemy Within. While I didn't agree with some of what he said, he definately enlightened me into whats going on with activist groups of all types. Bringing his point into a very condensed thought was this. He feels, and I agree, that activist groups such as the gay and lesbian activists are not trying to get themselves equal rights and place in society, rather they are trying to make themselves out to be higher than the people that aren't like them. That they won't be happy until they are viewed in society as being better than everyone else, which would basically lead to them being able to craft laws that would benefit them. Now, like I said, this is very condensed, and he has pleanty of proof to help his point. I won't debate this subject at all, so don't bother. If you want to see his, and in turn most of why I believe he is right (I do disagree with some things he said) you can pick up both his books. -Nick
