I think they'd be too thick. I wash mine in the driveway, even use a scrub brush on it, and hose the heck out of it.
To dry it, I put it in the washer on the spin cycle, with the carpet section facing the outside of the drum. Let it (them) spin for a minute or so and it's 95% dry. A little while out in the sun afterwards and they're dry enough.
