All I know is, I saw this stuff on something called the "Fox News Channel". I watch it quite frequently but I am not always clear on what is supposed to be actual "news" and what is admittedly "analysis". Fox is pretty skillful and blending the distinctions between "analysis" and news.
And please, tell me that none of you beleive that the whole Iraqi prisoner abuse was caused solely by ten rogue privates acting also without the knowledge or direction of any superiors.

Exactly. It's incessant CRAP like this that has me frothing at the mouth. The major news networks are so damn one-sided in their reporting it's absolutely sick.
It seems like 3/4ths of this country swallows most everything that the 5 o'clock news sells them; hook, line and sinker. I take enough trips outside of the states, read enough foreign press and know enough people in certain "places of concern" that the way information is swizzled by the mainstream media here in the US is embarassingly shallow and geared more for "infotainment" than anything else.
The misrepresentation and generalization that takes place in today's media is absolutely shameless.

Here's a bit of trivia.
Hannity, a self-described "arch-conservative" joined Fox when the network was started, and personally nominated Colmes to be his on-screen debating opponent. Before the selection was made, the show's working title was "Hannity & Liberal to Be Determined".

It's worse than that, my friend. They are trying to sway public opinion and bring about social change. From my perspective as a former newspaper man, I think they're all trying to 'dumb-down' the population. This will make them easy, weak minded targets for the liberal socialist movement. "Trust us, vote for us. We'll take care of you.".
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I heard Colmes on his radio show. On that day he seemed quite resonable. He actually let his guests answer most of the questions he asked, rather than interrupt them before they were done making their points - which I see him do regularly on the TV show.
To be fair, Hannity does the same thing, but he seems to do it less often, unless the guest keeps railing off on a tangent to spout some partisan mantra-du-jour.

Already on! I always wear it for these debates - it deflects the alien mind control rays.
But, you may be right. That view is extreme. It just SEEMS like the high school drop out rate is higher than it used to be. It just SEEMS like a larger percentage of high school graduates are unable to read & write to an effective level, much less a competent level.
... or is that what the published government numbers are telling me. I don't recall...

I don't dispute this one bit.
But how does the Liberal Media affect high school students. Hell, half of them probably don't even know what time the 6 o'clock evening news starts, let alone watch the thing.

HEHE. You forgot that I'm wearing my aluminum foil hat. It's all part of the dumbing down of America conspiracy theory. The media is in cahoots with the Libs and will share power for keeping the masses happy by giving them crappy reality shows.

What time is the 6 o'clock news?
Remember the story a few years ago about a high school city sports star that made a commitment for a sports scholarship at some college? When the sports information director or someone similar following recruiting asked him what his hometown's newspaper was, so a press release could be forwarded to that paper, the kid replied: "USA Today."
It would be funny if it weren't so sad.
