All,

How's it going in the Contour community? I joined because there seems to be a good support group here for the Contour, and I'm one of those Cougar guys. I understand our cars are really similar. I'm interested in getting a larger pool of knowledge to pull from than my usual NECO buddies. They are the ones who recommended I check in with you guys, actually. Many of them are members here and at FocalJet, too.

I understand that the Contour, Cougar and Mondeo share many components. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Just saying hi!

Yes, much is shared between with Cougar, Contour, and Mystique. The Mondeo, being European, is similar but has more differences (right-hand drive for example).

Welcome aboard. There are other NECO guys who hang out here as well, and all are welcome.

BEWARE!! I thought I might be the first to warn you.. be careful, there are alot of "search nazis". If there's even the slightest possibility that your question was already asked, they're gonna flip and say "USE THE SEARCH FEATURE %#@$#@%$@". Bastards.

That's because people always ask the same questions like "what size speakers?" and "what kind of body kit?"

Thanks for the warning. After I ran into those on a few other forums, I had a special red button installed on my keyboard. If I get a 'search nazi' response, I push the red button, and instantly the person who sent it receives their just desserts. First, a horde of rampaging fire ants will invade every oriface of their body, biting furiously. Next, a cloud of noxious, toxic gas wil form around them, slowly destroying brain cells. This is followed closely by a nearly deadly bout of sonic diarrhea, and eventually the individual will spontaneously combusts in a gigantic explosion. The whole procedd takes about fifteen seconds.

It's a great stress reliever knowing I got my revenge.

Actually, since he's in Germany, the local Mondeos come in the left-hand drive variety.

HKSCougar, mechanically, the cars you listed should be identical in its respective model year. Unfortunately for those of us stateside, all those sweet-looking Mondeo body-kits, headlights, etc, etc, won't fit the Contour not without lots of $$$, anyway.

Welcome to the boards, BTW.

So can I put a V8 in my Contour?

Kokopellian - Thanks for the vote of confidence

vudusvt - The answer I was looking for - yeah!

CRZYDRVR - An excellent question! Not being an expert, or even a novice, when it comes to the Contour, I feel I must put in my two cents.

Yeah, V-8... I know that's the new big thing with the Ford Focus - V8/RWD converions. Holy crap, those things are fast. So much torque and HP in such a light little car - you can boil tires so quick, man. There's a guy over here with one and I got to ride in it. I'm still trying to recouperate. So, in short, if you can squeeze a V8, V10 or V12 into your Contour, I say, "Do it, man!"

But first, I'd get a good stapler or some glue. You'll need it to reattach your skin.
