Actually ya idiot if ya think about it for ummmm two seconds it DOES make sense. Lets look it at nice and simple just for you, LA to New York is 3000 miles about, so lets do the math.
Ford Explorer - 3000/16 = 187.5 gallons of gas
Ford Contour - 3000/27 = 111.1 gallons of gas
Toyota Prius - 3000/55 = 54.5 gallons of gas
So if you drive a car that gets more mpg, it uses less gas, still with me. So if more people buy SUV they need more gas, and it turn increase demand for gas.
