NO, the whole thing must be replaced.
Same thing happened to me.(Going from memory here)
One of the two fans siezed and it would overheat on idle or slow hot day driving.
I replaced it myself, not rocket science, but you'll need to know a couple of things.
1: I got a new fan assembly (the two fans encased in their plastic frame) from a salvage yard. They sell them all the time. Just check to make sure both fans spin freely with no "grit" feeling in them.
2: From the top you'll undo the top part of that fan assembly. If you look how it connects to the radiator you'll see what I mean. Unhook the wiring to it as well (just remember how it goes back together)
3: From the bottom the fan assembly is held on there by a couple of bolts as well I believe.
4: I undid from the bottom side the bolts that hold the radiator to the front frame. I then pulled the radiator towards the front of the car enough that the fan assembly could slip down (kinda sideways) out between the radiator and the front subframe.
5: Reversed the process for the new install.
It's kinda tricky, but it can be done. Worse comes to worse, get a salvage fan and have someone besides the dealer put it on. Do you know a trusted mechanic? I shouldn't be more than 1.5 hours labor...period.
Good luck!
