Ok, My old Roommate had a 2000 Civic SI that nice blue one. So I ran into him the other night and we decided to race. I whored him through 1st, redlined it through 2nd and was tearing him up. Finally he began to gain while I was in 4th but i had him by 1/3 a car length when the govoner kicked in at 110ish. His mod.. Exhaust. My mod.. a very ghetto cold air intake mounted below the bumper. One thing I know, I shift better than he does, I could run the 1/4 in his car faster than he could Ryan

I'm pretty sure everyone here understands that a heavily modded civic will whip on us.But I did say similar mods.So if we want to go there let's see any honda run against this blue oval machine. www.meguiars.com/ford_focus/index.cfm

Its very simple, an Si motor needs NO2, forced induction, or significant internal work to be fast. An Si without this is just another Honda. Yawn.

They just don't have the TQ to hold up. Once the get the "VTEC" rolling their high end power, they are pretty quick. By then, it's too late. SI 160hp, 111TQ. From a punch it could be a different story. Different usable power were it counts for them. Amen, brutha. The Si is at real disadvantage on the launch. A modded Si is lucky to put down 110 fwtq where as my Maxima puts down 194 fwtq. It's not even funny how hard I out launch these on the street and track. The Si is much better from the roll (I still cream my buddy's 2K Si on a regular basis). Most of the Si's at my track have the intake and exhaust and typically run 15.7-16.1@88+mph on street tires. how about some real data...
SVT - 0-60 = 6.9 seconds SI - 0-60 = 7.2 seconds
SVT - 1/4 mile = 15.4 @ 91mph SI - 1/4 mile = 15.7 @ 88.4mph
SVT - top speed = 143 mph SI - top speed = ??? mph
SVT - lat accel = .83 g SI - lat accel = .80 g
SVT - 60-0 = 135 ft. SI - 60-0 = 150 ft.
SVT - CW = 3020lbs. SI - CW = 2612lbs.
SVT - hp = 200bhp SI - hp = 160bhp
SVT - tq = 170lb/ft SI - tq = 111lb/ft
looks like svt has it beat at everything but the aftermarket.

Here is how I see it guys. The magazines today tend to hype up the S.I. like it is a gift from GOD. Most of these "racers" more like teenie bopers, this is their first car. So of course they are going to think it is fast. In order for them to respect our cars as well as others, need to see things in a more wider sense, instead of so narrow mindly. But people who do smart mods tend to make their cars very quick. One thing that I really dislike is people not giving any respect to others and their cars just because they drive something different ( civic, SVT, S4 etc.). What bothers me more is the younger generation who has no respect for others what so ever, and I'm only 20 which is pretty sad. Life will always have its unfair advantages, just takes a more patient man to work around them....
