Just got my intake on, so the performance level of my stique has improved drasically, and what better place to test then on the German Autobahn.
Today I found myself taking long left and right turn at 105+ and cruising at 120+ speeds. Where else in the world can you do this and it be safe and aceptable.
For those who have not had their tour/stique's to these speeds for a long period of time let me tell you that the car haddles great and respondes well. Even at 95+ if you punch it the passing gear kicks in, the throttle response is just awesome.
To be able to go from 0 to 100 and hold that speed for a long period of time is a rush.

I was in germany also. My car is an auto. I should have put a chip in it. The contour was very nice at speed on the autoban. I felt very safe. BTW what part of germany are you at? I was at spangdahlem.

There are three ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way!
Isn't that just the wrong way?
Yeah, but faster!

i think Contiques handle BETTER above 90 MPH than between 50 and 90. aerodynamics take hold and the car "settles" into position on the road. not many inexpensive cars give such a feeling of comfort and control at those speeds.

my 96 Gl hits 109 tops. I bet if I got a racing chip I would be able to hit 120. But I still wouldnt feel right driving that fast, Id just feel like im mistreating my car.

I agree! Some cars at speed start to feel lite and skidish like if you twitch a finger you'll end up in the ditch. But these car feel solid. I always feel secure by what the Tour is telling me thru my hands and butt! The autobahn would be fun!

Should be able to hit 112, mine did pre-chip fairly easy. Haven't gone a whole lot faster than that, just enough to know the chip definitely removed the limiter.

I'm in Grafenwoerh right now but, I was in Mannheim from `96 to `00.
today I drove from Graf to Vilseck and back and got 2 different results as far as toping out..on the trip there it limited at 105 but on the way home I was at 109 and still climbing.
you're right tho the car does handle better at higher speeds it does seem to "settle" into the groove.
I'll have to spend the $$ and chip it. I have a buddy that has a stock eclipse (GS I believe, the 2.0 4cly) and he says the can take me. Another buddy who has been in both cars says that because mine is an auto and his is a manual he'd definitly get off the line but I got him easy with high end..

I have to say my tour at 90+ was great, i have a mustang and it felt just like it. Me and both of my friends were amazed. It is a stock se, but i couldnt belive it. I decided after 2 hrs of 100+ that I would give her some upgrades. I wish i would have had a chip i woul dhave tried to top her out. mind boggling....

if you can drive that fast, get the chip. i was able to get my old GL up to about 125 MPH, (on a track, of course! ) with a SuperChip. And it still felt solid. the SVT, well, it's faster.
