You can do a search in the tranny forums using the word "cooler" and you should get several pages of posts on this subject. Be sure to search "all posts" and not just the last week.

Also, check out my CD4E Mod page for some info on this topic as well.

As for an engine oil cooler, well I don't guess anyone has really needed to install one of these themselves. I guess only the guys running forced induction system.

The SVT comes with an engine oil cooler as does the Escape with the trailer towing package so their are some factory pieces out there if you think you need them. Also the Escape comes standard with a trans cooler (same transmission).

How hard is it to add the oil cooler to a non-svt or an aftermarket oil cooler? I have an oil temp guage and it reads about 210-230 under hard driving and I kind wanted to get that down a few degrees.

I run a transmission cooler, but for the oil I suggest you go to a 100% pure synthetic oil such as AMSOIL . This will help keep our engine running cooler and longer..

I use mobile one Sythetic and I am going to change my trans fluid with redline. Any advice on finding an oil cooler? What do I need to do?

as far as finding one:

I don't know if you are meaning for your MTX or ATX, but:

You can go new: and get one off the SVT engine, or escape engine. through the normal sources: bill, dealer, etc..
or you can go used at a junkyard, etc...

As far as R&D to make it work, don't ask me.. I wish I could help you!!

I am thinking about finding a totalled Escape and ripping the Tranny cooler off.. I wonder if there's enough room to mount it on an E1? (Guys? anyone know?)

I plumbed my trans cooler into the line returning the fluid to the trans. Granted warm-up is slower, but in the hot summer, the trans fluid can still cool down before re-entering the trans.

I bought the second largest size stacked plate (better) cooler that the parts store sold. The largest one had clearance problems with the radiator support. You'll need to pull the bumper cover off to attach the cooler, but its not difficult. A tiny pipe cutter will be needed too. While you are at it, with the ATX spend some extra cash and put an inline filter on it as well.

My trans temp and my coolant temp currently stay within about 20ºF of each other under almost any driving conditions.

I am more worried about the oil temp not the trans temp. I am running pretty hot, I am prolly safe where I am at. But I wanted to know if an engine oil cooler would do any good, and where I can get a good one.
