you do realize that your not going to get any "ram" effect when your using an open element dont you?

no, I thought (thats what I get for thinking...) that the rush of air from the front of the car would be a little assist, but now that I think about it...jeeze I'm a dumba$$
well, I fell dumb...

nice install though.
the reason people usually install those is for cooler air to get to the intake, IIRC.
Do you have the clear oil on that intake? Doesn't look like the usual red that I always see.

thanks
its just what CTA sent me. I do need to get more oil for it though.
it was pre-oiled or at least it felt that way.

I'd think the pipe does something. Sure at a dead stop no, but surely at 60 mph it would. And How is the pipe held inside the cone? Also, I'm setting up some 3" flexpipe and wondered if you cut away any of the fender metal to fit it. It's not a 3" hole all-the-way to the filter (at least for me is isn't) so I had to squeeze mine to 2.5" in one spot....

there's a diffenitly a high end gain, as far as how I did it.. At the bottom in the air dam it just fits and I routed it thought the fender where the stock air flow chamber is. I used 2.5" flexible intake hose found at Autozone, and it fits perfectly into the end of the filter.

It would allow some cooler air yes, but the ramming effect would be nonexistant because any increase in air pressure would just escape out through the outer air filter rather than being forced into the engine. If it was a closed element like the stock SVT intake then it might work, but I doubt it would be noticable. I tried this once on my probe and used the same flexible dryer vent tubing. The only time I noticed an improvement was when driving in slow moving traffic since my engine was getting outside air rather than the hot air under the hood. You will however notice all kinds of crap in your air filter though, (bugs, dust, whatever you've driven though) take the hose off after a week and see what you've collected.
