OP JAGSVT CEG\'er J Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 71 MD	ok it seems like here and there, like off and on-- my clutch pedal becomes much harder to depress to the floor than usual i was afraid it might be on the way out or something, so i tried the, "try to pull off in 3rd gear" trick, and i had no problem at all starting from third any idea as to what it could be? its really annoying! thanks JAG 2000 SVT, #387 of 2150 Silver Frost

I have seen changing pedal hardness due to the brake fluid absorbing water. This tends to change with temperature at the cylinders. Obviously a pressure plate problem can cause this too. I suggest you try the procedure in another car for comparison, or have someone with more experience at it check yours. I can't picture a pressure plate failing in such a way that it would cause variable stiffness. I have seen really dirty clutch fluid cause this problem. Jim Johnson 98 SVT 03 Escape Limited
