I dont know why or for what all those people are in the prisons in Iraq. Maybe some (a lot maybe ??) are there for attacking troops, maybe some are there for general criminal activities.

If our wish is to bring US style freedom & democracy to the people of Iraq, we should be treating those prisoners the same way prisoners are treated in the US. Innocent till proven quilty. -edit- That also means we treat them with respect and with human decency until they are convicted of whatever crime they are charged with.

I see how you dont think the abuses are that much of a big deal but as someone else pointed out, they ARE a huge deal to Muslims.
