I've got only a few weeks left in this wonderfull country before I've got to go back to Germany.
So I've got to sell my car.
In Germany e.g. you have to make a contract/ agreement with the new owner when you sell. IS this here the same? What about registration, title?
Do I have to remove the licence plates when I sell the car?
There is the possibility that I'll sell the car not in Ohio but maybe in Mississippi or Florida (I want to see a bit more of this country) Is there a prob to sell 'out of state'?
Thanks y'all in advance

It would be very wise to have something written down on paper. Just make the buyer sign a piece of paper saying he/she's buying it for a specific dollar amount, and buying it 'as-is'. That way if it completely falls apart 1000 miles down the road because they abused it they can't come after you.

Yes, remove the plates. My brother sold a car a few years ago and forgot to take the plates off. He was really upset when the new owners started parking in no-parking zones and the tickets were being mailed to my brother, and in his name.

I don't know about selling out-of-state as I've never been in that situation before.

Search for Automobile Bill of Sale on Google, you'll get a decent format for it.

Check your state DMV website for more info.

A lot of this varies from state to state...

Minnesota REQUIRES a title to sell the vehicle. Fortunately, the Department of Motor Vehicles can act with their computerized records if both owner and buyer are present.

License plates also vary by state. Hetfield is quoting Wisconsin, where the plates belong to the owner. In Minnesota, the license plates belong to the car, you leave them on the vehicle when selling the car (the re-registration puts the plate info to the new owner). I bought both my cars with the plates on them (though long story on the RX-7), and I still have the same plates as the first owner put on the Contour.

Best to go to the state department of motor vehicles web site, or to go to a DMV office.

Best wishes for your future!
