I think you can just go with synthetic now of these days, I know Demon did with his new engine. . . .
Actually my engine already had 4k miles on it. The rings were already broken in.
I added clevite rod bearings and ran dino oil (Mobil 5W30) for the first 500 miles.
Mainly to give a thorough cleaning of any FO that entered the disassembled engine and any excess bearing silt from break in.
I then switched to Mobil 1 0W40.
