The highest here is Chevron's 94 octane, maybe I should switch to that ... $1.10 / liter though .. ow

1999 Black CSVT.
Actually, I noticed in my engine bay, there's a sticker "Ford Approved Modifications" and on it, it says 'PCM Reprogram'. Maybe they're using the 2000 timing curve ?
I'm almost done this tank, so I'll go and fill up Chevron 94 octane.

If you run 100 octane you will more than likely begin to melt your cats because it has a higher lead content than 91 octane. If you absolutely have to run higher than 91 you can mix in 100 up to about .25 tank. With the mix you should average out with about 94-95 octane.

Wheeeeeeeew...
If you have ever read the fuel pump it clearly states "unleaded fuel"
Unleaded fuel has been a requirement since 1976.
You should NEVER run leaded fuel in any modern car. If will destroy the O2's and converters and gum up the injectors.
Also cylinder heads have hardened seats now day so the lubrication from the lead is not required.

How can you be so sure Steve, especially since you do not own a SVT Contour? The SVT supplement to my Contour manual states Premium Fuel Only, with a 91 octane stated as minimum. There is also a sticker on my fuel filler door that states it as well. I am also pretty certain under the fuel gauge it also states the same.
exactly what i was going to post.......and yes it also says premium fuel only in the gauge cluster

Unleaded fuel is like Non Fat milk there is still a little in it. 100 Octane and higher have much higher lead content than the "unleaded" 87,89,91,93 Octanes. Some even state that they are leaded fuel which you definately should not run on a vehicle with cats.
