yeah it can be bad. the main reason is emmisions but i know because i helped and mostly watch the assembly of a chevy 350 we put 2 inch kn breathers on the valve covers. also have you ever been to a race track and seen a car blowing lots of blue smoke ????? thats usually fixed by putting a breather on. i havent tried it on a duratec. i dunno

My car has been raced and the guy who raced it said it always burned oil. It just is the way it works. If you put a breather on I think oil would just leak out the breather as the pressure would rise and force it out. Atleast that is how I understand it. An oil seperator will solve the problem, rather it is a workaround, and the sperator must be emptied every month or so.
