A few questions first though...

When was the last time you changed the ATF?

What is the current condition of the ATF?

When was the last time you did a really good tune-up on the engine?

Reason I am bringing up the bits about the engine, is because it's overall health has a hugh impact on the wellness of your transmission. Since the CD4E is an electronic transaxle and the ECM dictates shift points and charactoristics based on inputs from the not only the transaxle itself, but the enigne as well, a healthy running engine is the key to a healthy anything else. Now, I'm not saying you don't have any tranny issues, but what I am saying is that a good general rule of thumb in diagnoiseing issues such as this is to look at the overall picture and not just one piece.

Hope to hear back from you and maybe we can get that CD4E back to proper operation again.

When was the last time you changed the ATF? About 2k miles ago used some stuff from wal-mart says for most ford vehicles used drain plug and flushed out about 3.5 qts

What is the current condition of the ATF? It had issues b4 this and still has them tranny slips from drive to overdrive (not bad) it has 144k on it dunno previous records on car its a salvage repair and I think there has been some tranny rebuilding b4 i owned it it also shifts hard if i peg it up to 30-35 mph and let totally off the gas (sometimes) it seems to only do it when the tranny is warm.... I just took it to the gas station and back with no problems about 5 mins of driving

When was the last time you did a really good tune-up on the engine? Well I bought it 2k miles ago so not sure plugs and wires look mint
