Yes, but only for people that already have MORE than enough money to live and enjoy the fruits of excessive wealthiness, or if the tax dollars are going worthy causes.*cough* poor choices by current administration*cough* No one enjoys taxes, but I have no problem paying high gas prices (I paid $2.15 the other day for low-grade) because I know that those rich, greedy republicans in my state are driving $50k SUVs that get 11 (12 if they're lucky ) miles to the gallon. I laugh at their stupidity, that's why I drive a small Ford. I stongly believe that if every person in the US got rid of their oversized SUV, we wouldn't need to be in Iraq conquering the oil.

What I don't like is how our tax dollars are being used, like to conquer more oil, rather than things that we really need for example, a national healthcare system. Places like Ireland, where I recently visited, also have 35-40% of their income go to taxes... but everyone has healthcare.

So, only greedy rich Republicans drive SUV's that get 11 mpg? And if you work for your money and get rich, shouldn't you be able to buy whatever kind of car you want? Isn't that the great thing about this country? The government doesn't dicate what we drive. What if we did have national health care? It sounds good in theory, but would you really want the government in charge of that too? Do you want them dictating which doctor you could go to? I could be wrong, but I heard that in Canada (with national healthcare) that it takes a long time to get anything done.

I hear many Canadians are coming to the US to get surgeries done because of the waiting lists.

Yes, people in Ireland and other countries pay that much in taxes and get healthcare. They do that in Norway and Sweden too. The problem is now that there is an influx of immigrants who have NEVER put a dime into the system but are automatically entitled, putting a SEVERE drain on the systems. We have plenty of that here, people who have never put a dime into the system yet demand their piece of the pie.

At least with private insurance, you don't get something for nothing, you have to put into the pot in order to get back.

Look at the mess that Medicare is in, do you really want that on a larger scale?
