The K&N drop-in gave me nothing. The KKM gave me a great sound and is butt dyno approved. The real dyno may not agree but the sound alone is worth it. -Andy

that's funny cause the dyno said 180hp/164lbft, 179hp/163lbft, and 181hp/164lbft. up from 176hp/162lbft. could be the quaife though i suppose. anyways, why people have to be so all-knowing and pessimistic is a bit of mystery.

Dude, it could also be the DYNO. Different dyno, different day, different calibration. The quafie could easily do that because it applies the tires MUCH better. I just know i noticed no differene with the K&N and alot with the KKM. Thats all. -Andy

No no no no, I never said it was more powerful or anything like that. I really doubt I got any more HP. I did notice a change in the sound and that is what I really like, and (I am probably wrong here) I think the car has less trouble sucking in the air therefore at full throttle it gets to the redline faster or it makes me think so. But hey, I like it a lot just for the sound, I didnt expect any dramatic changes. If you think it is a piece of crap, fine, mine is a goood cheap addition. jmtc guys.

I had a K&N .. went to the KKM .. now back at the K&N. Both are better than stock. Both sound better .. K&N uses stock airbox and is stelth ... KKM moosed my a$$ to death (pre-TH fix) .. maybe I'll go back to the KKM, but truth be known, IT'S ONLY AN AIR FILTER ...

I agree. I have the K&N, nothing too noticable, but I don't have to buy new air filters anymore Andy

I used to have a K&N in my stock Duratech airbox (drilled) and it seemed a little smoother and more responsive than the paper filter. The holes that I drilled in it made it sound better (it sounded even better after I removed the wierdly shaped tube that connected the airbox to the fender air inlet).
I am now using the base from an SVT airbox with a large opening universal K&N filter screwed down onto it and it has made a small improvement for me.
I think any air filter improvements will really show themselves once I can justify the cost and shop time to open up the exhaust a little bit.

I think were talking about both types. The stock filter for the Duratech is a panel filter (I guess most of us know that). The KKM is a cone filter. The second K&N that I installed on my car is a cone type universal filter.
I hope that clears up things a little bit.
