There is no way in hell I'd pay a lawyer for this, IMO. I know in Mass the first ticket does not affect insurance rates. Its like a freebee "OK, this is your warning. Don't do it again"

Take the first hit, especially for something as small as this. What is it, $100 fine? You'll be able to get that reduced just by going to court.

You'll want to check about the insurance, but all in all I wouldn't do it.

BTW, it lasts on your record for 6 years up here in MA. But as us Massholes know, Auto Insurance in this state is really screwed up. You need to go through a broker to get insurance. You can't sign up directly. That's why all the insurance companies say "except MA and NJ"
