In speaking with our Taurus SHO bretheren over the weekend, a few ideas came up for performace mods. One thing that was brought to light was the rear intake equalizer that the SHO intakes have. For those that need a visual I have provided a pic. In discussing the purpose of this channel, I had remembered that the Jag X-type (3L Duratec) also has this kind of passage between runners that also has a butterfly valve. It turns out that if this passage is plugged, the SHO engine loses quite a bit of power at most RPM's except for around 3800. At that point it gains power. One of the SHO guys said that he dug up the original patent for the Yamaha engine and it contains a butterfly valve to change the intake shape/volume. The SHO guys are messing with this find. On the Contour's Duratec design, the Porsche engineers did not incorporate this into their design.

What I am proposing, is this:
What if 1.25" holes where drilled and tapped at the end of the larger intake sections, near the FEAD, and a crossover pipe was placed there. Could this prove some gains? Just have a nice aluminum pipe, 1.25" in diameter, bent at the ends to 90 degrees, then mated to two brass nippled that are mounted on the ends of those intake channels.

Just an idea. Comments welcome.
