I just ran a search but was unable to find anything on whether Ford ever upgraded the transmission in the MTX-75. I thought I read somewhere on here that they upgraded it for 2000. Is this true and if so what were the upgrades?
I ask because CarMax may be trying to screw me to the tune of $3000 and I need all the ammo I can get to tell them that the synchros in the pre-2000 tours are notoriously bad, proven (I hope) by the fact the Ford had to upgrade the tranny in 2000 to address the problem.
Anybody able to lend a little expert advice or their keen memory?

yes the synchros were updated in the 00+ mtx-75's. I know in the 00+ cougar tranmissions they also came with the revised shift forks and shift tower, but I am not sure about the svt trannies.

Why do people put that load of BS at the beginning of every post where the information has been previously posted ad nauseam...
YES the MTX-75 was "REVISED" in the 2000 model year.
Syncros, syncro shafts, gears, 3-4 shifter fork, etc...

To help to svtdc there are many posts on this subject. I thought only the MTX-75 on cars built after Jan 1, 2000 had the upgraded parts; the cars that had to have the Ford Honey Synthetic Transmission fluid.
To make matter worse, I called the Ford dealer where I bought my car from and asked if the parts numbers changed from 99 to 00 and they told me no. So even the dealers can't keep this straight.

Dealers don't print the catalog. It is still a Ford problem. It is the same old "garbage in, garbage out". The parts guy can do no better than his catalog.

Um could you explain "syncro shaft" Or do you mean input and output shaft? and if you are refering to that what was upgraded?
