It's been said before and this won't be the last time but with money anything is possible and I say go for it with the 2.0L it will easily handle anything you can throw at it as long as it's built to take it. DO IT

Yeah, though the Zetec is a decent little engine, it has just to many limitations and the stock ECU is very limiting in terms of what we can do. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have never bought the Cougar and either kept my 95 V6 Stang and twin turbo'd it or got a early 90s 240sx.

Miata's are good little cars and have more boost options that the Zetec. I'm not a fan of superchargers on a I4 engine or on any engine, period. Any bolt on turbo will give you more power for the money than a bolt on super, and supers make no TQ compared to a turbo at the same boost. The Zetec will run 300whp on a stock block, BUT you have to run 110 octane, won't do much past 230whp on 93octane.

Just do your research, the Miata's are good little cars, with strenghts and weaknesses, do a lot of research before you decide to buy.

This isn't exactly what I wanted to show you, but it will do:
Monster Miata

Years ago, I came across an article in a magazine where a guy had blown the engine in his stocker miata and decided to go as extreme as possible with it, no matter how outrageous it sounded. He put a Ford 302 engine, Borg-Warner T-5 tranny, and a custom drive shaft to an RX-7 rear end. I can't exactly remember times or anything, but I do remember thinkin " I want one. " and I still do to this day. Maybe when I hit 35 or so I'll give it a shot...

I would stick with what works, but remember that there's a reason they call it a "Power to weight" ratio. The Ford 302 put out around 225 Horsepower stock in it's last few years IIRC.

the only problem I have with that is everybody and their mothers @ miata's version of CEG has done that. hell, they even have a kit to do it with! I was wanting to try something new, but it's way too much and I'm way too amateur right now to go for it. I'm thinkin I might just go after one of the 10th Anniversary ones. it would make a decent replacement for the tour.

I ran a search already! 99 Ford Contour SVT - SOLD!! '90 CRX Si, '98 Explorer V8, '98 Acura ITRally Co-Driver
