Get Out.
So asking for the UN to be sent in is bad, yet going to Iraq without the UN is also bad. Essentially its "I hate the United States , go penis envy". So I repeat myself; get out.

I feel "sorry" for anyone who lives in a socialist society. Whether that includes Canadians or not, I'm not sure..
Just to add, though off subject..(venting..) At a the 2004 Retroviral (HIV) conference I attended, the Canadian ambassador to the UN was giving the opening talk. He spend 30 minutes embelleshing the generosity of the Canadians giving low cost HIV drugs to sub-Sahara Africa...This was PATHETIC enough considering nearly ALL these drugs under discussion were developed in the US, by US pharmaceutical companies, US citizens taking the risk by taking them first, and were NOW CHEAPER in Canada because 1) they are sold in Canada at lower cost..basically subsidized by AMERICANS, or were cheap generic rip offs by Canadian companies.
As if this were not enough he proceeded to chastise the US for not doing enough for global AIDs..only fleetingly mentioning the 15 BILLION that Bush promised to Africa for drugs and medical care, NO mention whatsoever of the fact that we are paying the VAST majority of the HIV Vaccine developement costs (many billions). It was all vailed and said with a smile but it was perhaps the most CONDACENDING speech I ever heard...
I have never though poorly of Canadians until that point (quite the contrary), but combined with recent knife in the back after knife on our position in the Iraq war (I do appreciate the help in Afganistan) I am SERIOUSLY wondering whats going on with your government. I hope most of the Canadian citizens are not cut from the mold that your politicians are..

Your facts are a little wrong here. Canada has cheap drugs because they are Government regulated. The same companies that sell the drug here, sell the drug in bulk to the Canadian Government to distribute.
Yes, the reason drug prices are higher here is to pay for the R&D.
However, your anger is very misguided.
It is COMPANIES (Not America) that provides these drugs to Canada at reduced rates. America has nothing to do with it. Its a supply and demand thing over there since it is all government regulated. If there is more than one drug that will do the trick, it goes to the lowest bidder. No different than a government contract over here. Because the companies are done with R&D on that particular drug, they lower the costs significantly because it is only a production cost at this point.
So, Canada is offering tons of AIDS drugs to Africa at the rate they are paying. Their ability to buy them cheap are from the PROFIT MAKING DRUG COMPANIES. Why would you be upset with a Country that is able to provide medicine at significantly lower costs because they have a NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM????

My anger toward that pompous ass is most certainly not misguided...
And I am CORRECT in my accessment that Canada and many others gets a free ride on drug costs...Companies are motivated to make NEW drugs by PROFIT. Profit for a new AIDS drug is very large IF you can recoupe by selling large volumes at high prices. This occurs in the US (via the VAST deep taxpayer pockets of the Ryan White funds/ AIDS drug assistance programs or "ADAP") and to a lesser extent in Europe. It does NOT occur in Canada with less that 1/10 the HIV population as in the US and much less profit per presciption becasue of lower prices.
WITHOUT the US market, I guarentee you that Canadian drugs would be either MUCH more expensive (because they had to do the R&D) or much less available (because it was not profitable to make the drug...it costs in excess of 50-100++ million to go from test tube to market per drug). Simply put..your "Government regulation" is not what is bringing costs down, rather that Canada gets drug much closer to cost because its an easy way for US based companies to make a few extra bux since R&D is already done. SOoooo.. for that jerk to try and imply that Canada has some moral high ground in this, was a total crock (note that many of us in the meeting are involved in R&D), not to mention downplaying what we HAVE done..
ALOT of Americans are fed up with this system where developed countries obtain drug at much lower prices than in the US and talk about legislation to begin to address this is becoming quite common. I hope the free ride is coming to an end.
And don't get me started about Canada's national heath care system..do you want to know how many MDs from Canada I work with...and why they left. And why people with bux leave Canada and come to the US for heath care. And why not a single person I have heard of has gone TO Canada for health care..
I am still not saying that the majority of Canadians are this "misguided".. But as I said, I am concerned about some of the leadership as you appear to worry about ours.

I just took a look at the photos. There will be a number of people that will see justice prevail upon themselves.
This conduct is simply not acceptable, violates rules of Geneva convention. Does not showcase the best side of our men AND women in uniform. Idiots, simply idiots...... Careers and livelihoods will be destroyed on this....
