I certainly hope that the mean spirited put-downs do not keep him from posting his thoughts. There is no "opposing view' to facts, there are either different interpretations or different values set on their importance.
That's pretty much the point I was making, Captain Obvious. You contradicted yourself in the same sentence by the way...
Please re-read my previous post you objected to. I don't think I was being mean at all. I simply encourage folks to do a little more thinking about an issue of such importance before posting. This is especially important since the media outlets tend to present only one side of a story, rather than put it in proper context, it makes better news to inflame everything into a crisis - or at least sensationalize the story. Critical thinking & determining what is NOT being reported is the key to gaining a more clear understanding.
The few times I've gone off half-cocked on these boards, I've gotten railed, & rightfully so I might add. That's what I get for not doing my research and thinking clearly about an issue.
Now as to the actions of the personell in question, I can't comment on the appropriateness of what went on since I was not there & do not have the full context of the situation. I can only say that, if it is part of an interrogation proceedure, it should not have been recorded.
