Maybe I misread, but I thought it was British soldiers who were doing that junk with the torture and sexual positions and junk.

[Edit:]Eh, nevermind. I looked at this article posted by Con_touring. I wonder where I read that it was the Brits...

Give me a [censored] break dude, I'm only 17 ya know.

I told you that I wasnt saying you werent intelligent. Youre 17 , that I didnt know. Im only 19 but I have to say that even 2 years ago if I tried to say something similar it would have come out in much the same manner. Your problem is not in intelligence, it is in finding and spending time with what words to state your opinion with and how.

That being said, why should age be an excuse for ignorance? If you post drivel, be prepared for the consequences, regardless of your age.

Oh and Im escaping this thread , coasty and the other Canadians ignorance is like a black hole. It doesnt even warrant a counter argument. It only frightens me that I see these types of links posted so often from Canadians.

Well, this thread will certainly get him thinking before posting in the future.

If you get anything out of this HITMANinMI, I hope it's that you don't have to take everything the media throws at you as gospel. When the press presents a view, find out what the opposing view is so you get a more balanced perception of what is going on. This will give you understanding & insight into:

1. How things came to be
2. How they will be recorded in history
3. What really happened

#1 is the basis for understanding
#2 may bring you riches
#3 will bring you wisdom & peace, my son.

What are you guys talking about???
What media gospel are we talking about???

I certainly hope that the mean spirited put-downs do not keep him from posting his thoughts. There is no "opposing view' to facts, there are either different interpretations or different values set on their importance.

And by the way, which member of our troops or which civilian was tortured and in what way ???

Especially when something this putrid gets thrown out:

I can't muster the words to describe the fathomless disgust I feel for people who insist that the US deserves further attacks, regardless of the fact that they are inevitable.

War or peace, innocents don't deserve the horrors that are inflicted upon them, here or elsewhere. It takes one sick f**k to think otherwise.

Does that work both ways, or only for us ?

Read the quote again and ponder the various meanings that "here and elsewhere" bring forth, along with the rather easily-understood one being used here...

The irony that your Santayana quote fields here is just too sweet. To paraphrase it, perhaps those that forget history are also condemned to have it repeated for them???

Jessica Lynch ring a bell (rape and beatings)? The 4 contractors whose charred bodies were hung from a bridge, though not before they were beaten?

Isolated cases, you say? Yeah, about as isolated as the cases that are being plastered from here to kingdom come on the media outlets.

If playing rap music a touch loud and stripping prisoners down for candid shots is "torture" and is being touted as such (although some of what has been done is CLEARLY over the line and should be punished HARSHLY to serve as an example), perhaps we need to let Saddam Hussein loose and give him back his particular implements of "persuasion" to refresh the media's thoughts on what "torture" really is.

I'm sure he'd be more than happy to light up a fair number of his troops that failed his regime in protecting Baghdad...

Slicing people up with razors and throwing them in pits of sewage for days, pushing them off of 2-3 story buildings multiple times, women stripped naked and cigarrettes being put out all over their bodies, electric drills run through the hands and feet of prisoners and eyes gouged out, gang-rape of women and children in front of their kin...

The list is endless.

The US treats prisoners of war FAR better than many other governments. Period. Isolated cases of GI's or contractors getting downright abusive is just that; isolated cases and is the EXCEPTION to the rule rather than the RULE.

In terms of fairness to the concept of "torture", I want the pictures and videos of torture under the Iraqi regime played alongside the shots of what our troops or contractors have done. Just to serve as a frame of reference for those that are screaming "injustice" at the top of their lungs and are foaming at the mouth about US troop behavior in Iraq.

Does Iraq deserve further attacks?

Have no innocents been killed there?

The original jump-the-gun supposition was never proved.

Abuse of corpses for propaganda is common in third world countries, but not exactly torture.

What cases? I have seen released prisoners who say they they were reasonably well treated by their Iraqi captors.

I will have to look around for some info on this. Or if you have some specific info, please share. I would hate to think supposition is enough for your attacks.
