changing the water pump is a good idea if your changing the timing belt but you don't have to what year is your car I'm doing my timing belt tonight it broke actually missing teeth as well on saturday morning but I did the water pump 2 weeks ago so for me I'm fine.Oh if he removes the valve cover make sure they put a new gasket on after.
