I have a 1999 SVT with about 29,000 miles. Today when I went to wash the car, I noticed that the "chrome" ring that surrounds the front grill (with the Ford logo mounted on it), has suddenly started to bubble. It almost looks like when house paint starts to bubble up from underneath the layer of paint. I am trying to figure out why this happened and how to remedy the situation. As you can tell by the miles I listed, the car is relatively young. It has been exposed to harsh, constantly changing weather, but it has never been a problem in the past. I have never seen one bubble in the ring, until today, and there are about 10-15 different spots all of the sudden. I thought about temperature change and humidity affecting the adhesion of the "chrome" coating, but the temperature has just been gradually rising like normal. (It was not freezing cold and then suddenly very hot.) So, does anyone know why this is happening? Is there any way to get the bubbling to go away, besides replacing the whole ring? all suggestion are appreciated!

Dont replace the ring, just strip it and paint it to match your car.

Dunno what made it bubble though, sorry.
