good....right tool for the rigth job! no they wont, rather aren't supposed to let you tow using the ball and bumper. besides the hitch is far more safe and reliable.

Use your plan of picking up the dolly with the Blazer and then use it on the Truck. Sorry I haven't got back to you Russell, been busy. Looks like you've got things sorted out anyway and I haven't come up with anything. Just remember, 5.8L drinks gasoline quick. Keep your foot out of it as much as you can to help the milage, from what I gather you are low and $ anyway. Good luck.

I towed my SVT behind my Silverado (5.3L, Auto, 3.73 gears) from California City,Ca to Charleston, S.C. with no problems at all. The trip is around 2600 miles and it took approx 50 hours and yes, I drove straight through stopping for about6 hours to sleep. A Chevy can handle it.
I would suggest getting and Trans cooler on your truck if you can. I didn't have any problems but it's good insurance and good to use on anyday of the week.
The 5.8 will drink some major gas especially if any of the land is not flat. Also keep in mind that long, slow uphill slopes will wreak havoc on your gas mileage and your truck will be working very hard so go easy on it.
