Unfortunately the safer a car is to drive, the more likely you are to get ticketed. So, you gotta give a little to get a little.
I was surprised to read that White was ranked as one of the 'safest' colors as well. And it's one of the least likely to be ticketed, so it's probably the all-around "best" color by those 2 measurements.
Light Greys, Silvers, and Browns (which red can possibly be at night under the right conditions and yellow halogen lights) are the least safe to drive.
Of course if more people just drove with their headlights on it would all be a moot point. But, for whatever reason, that's never caught on (I do it religiously). We wouldn't want to make our cars many times more visibile during the day at the cost of having to replace a $5 bulb twice as often.
