BabySHO, that is the 2jz. It's an Inline 6, 3.0. My friend has an 03 Sport Edition. 20xhp, 215ft lbs. Not too much power but enough for a "luxury car". Ah man that thing glides over imperfections like nothing. Bumps and stuff that would make my CD player break, you don't even feel in these cars.

I know I saw a show on TLC where they dropped the 430 into an IS, and it was lexus sponsored..... perhaps that was their test car, but it was damn quick, I think 0-60 in 5.6 and 1/4 in high 12's low 13's. I saw it like 2 weeks ago, so those numbers might be off but the car was sweet, and handled and drifted like a champ. God i love fast 4 drs..... If i ever get rich my garage will be full of 'em- S4, IS430(I'll drop it in myself if i have to), my SVT 'tour, E55, M5, it'll be good times. Have fun with your car, I'm jealous!
They had the IS430 at the NYC auto show. Funky red and black paint job. But the idea of a V8 in a car that small was quite enticing. They listed 0-60 in 5 flat, but the 1/4 mile figure you gave is accurate from what I remember. I'd definitely look into buying one (a 430) if the price wasn't too outrageous.
Its funny because that TLC program was sponsored by Lexus. It was awesome, but not for production...but last night I was reading my new Motor Trend and now it looks like they are going to bring the IS430 to light in a few years when they redesign. It was cool then to see the experiment that helped make that decision on TLC.

oh ya, i figured that car wasn't going to just set off a line of IS430, but perhaps it would have sparked a fire under the IS' creators to maybe consider it for a limited production. So they are redesigning the IS? When is that expected? Got any pics anyone? Or maybe they aren't and I am just an idiot, but anywho I love these cars...

Indeed the next-gen IS300/430 will sprout a coupe and convertible to join the SportCross and the sedan, for a lineup that mirrors that of the BMW 3 Series. Pictures are in the new issue of Motor Trend, but I don't yet have time to scan them. It was on the SketchPad, alongside the new LS 430 due in 2007. The IS is expected before that, though, sometime in the summer of 2006.
