...lmao @ svthadtoomuchcuervo's "iberalistic pig" statement. name calling is "ridiculouse" and against forum rules. you on my level = never.
anyway, some of you (on the more moronic side of the fence) are so quick to argue that you can't even have a constructive discussion.
my statement was accurate. the initial attack was planned very well, but the aftermath was not. it's evident in the greater number of deaths that have occurred since major combat was declared over. and the number of post saddam forces were obviously inadequate or bush probably wouldn't have approved more troops or extended the stay of the troops already there.
we've been through all of the discussion about the UN resolutions, the 10+ years saddam had to disarm, the threat of saddam helping the terrorists, and yadda yadda yadda....i'm not interested in beating those horses any more. dig up the old threads and reread them if you want to argue those issues...then argue them with yourself.
of course none of us have the answer to the war on terrorism (maybe collectively but not individually) but true i believe military intervention (on the level of "enduring freedom" [roll eyes]) will not be the determining factor in the war on terrorism. rather constructive discussion and effective/genuine diplomacy with countries harboring, promoting, and supporting terrorism. some of that diplomacy and discussion has been pretty effective more recently than in the past. this could attributed to the "we're not playing" military action taken in iraq and afghanistan but that's debatable as well. either way i don't believe diplomacy was genuinely attempted leading up to the war in iraq. and i believe the bush admin was predetermined to war in iraq prior to 9/11 and completely opportunistic and set on it in the post 9/11 atmosphere.
are we safer now than before...for the time being at least. mostly because the terrorist have somewhere closer to home to go and fight the "enemy" for now. we can't kill them all and like i said i don't have the answer, but history has shown war is a sub-optimal long term solution. it breeds hatred and resentment that takes many many many years to overcome.
good luck to our troops (some of which some are my family members) who do as they're told to protect our future. your valor, skill, and dedication to your duties have been unappreciated and undervalued by people for the war in iraq/afghanistan and against. you are not pawns.
