Both stock, CSVT has the 5 speed, Grand Prix has the auto. Which would win? BTW the GT has the 3.8L V-6 engine. I think it pushes 200 Horsepower

CSVT by a hair... but be ready for blowing the differential.

SVT easily.

The GT "should" beat it out of the hole but after 30mph the SVT walks it badly.

"Bench" racing the SVT is nearly a second faster in the 1/4 mile. That's a ton of car lengths or not even remotely close at the end.

In an "illegal" stop light battle the GPGT would be tough because it's brainless to launch and has a lot more torque for only a couple hundred pounds more weight.

That's a lot of confidence you have there in making such a bold statement.

Anyway, a CSVT wouldn't likely romp and stomp a Grand Prix GT, but it would likely pull ahead once the revs build. Run into a supercharged GTP, though, and you better start saying your prayers.

You are not serious right.

Yes the GTP should win "bench racing" (as I have beaten them stock for stock way back when) but it would be close.

Also the newer GTP's are heavier so they are not as quick as the older models.

Also the GTP still runs into a wall once moving. From a roll advantage SVT.

Then once you consider roads have turns it becomes 100% advantage to the SVT verses the couch with the durable 30 year old Buick engine. (Go Buick! )

I thought we were talking stock for stock......in that case I have been reading up on Grand Ams (My G/F has a 2000 with the 3.4L) and there are people running high to mid 14's with intake, header, and exhaust.....fast as or faster than most CSVTs (3.0L not included).
