i found a true cai kit on custom cougars for a 2.5 duratec, but i don't know if it will fit in my 2000 mystique with a manual because of the engine bay size. are the bays the exact same as the cougar?

Introducing a TRUE Cold Air Intake for both the Manual and Automatic Transmission Cougars. The Cold Air intake will eliminate heatsoak, as your filter element will be located inside the bumper behind the foglight area. This area is shielded from water on all sides by the mudguards.

The CC Cold Air Kit comes complete with ALL Polished Tubing and Couplers by Hose Techniques for COMPLETE replacement of your stock air intake or existing aftermarket intake. The Purchase of hose fasteners may be needed.

This intake is Not a simple bolt on piece. You will be required to do some modification in order for this system to fit properly. Just like Ground Control, if you want the best you have to do some cutting. Please see below for needed modifications.

Those with a Manual Transmission :

You will have to relocate your fuse box to under the battery. This is easy and instructions will be provided. You will also need to drill a 3.5" hole for the piping to pass through to go behind the foglight. Again, detailed instructions will be included as well as provide a list of all tools needed.

Average Install time is 60-90 with a level 3 of install difficulty.
Install Difficulty Scale 1-5, 1 is the easiest and 5 is the hardest.

i'm new to the engine upgrading stage so i was just wonering. if it works it seems like a really good deal.

So im taking it this will fit the SVT Contour also? And if i read the info right, it will replace ur stock airbox completly? Or do u need an aftermarket intake to be able to attach the CAI?

it takes place of the whole intake piping and box. look at the picture that is linked in my first post. that's the set. i don't know how it will fit on the svt being the throttle body is bigger but i don't know. i was looking at upgrading to the svt intake manifold kit which includes larger throttle boddy (65mm) so that is my only worry, but i'm sure there is an adapter you can buy on line or at a local auto parts store.

if you have a after market short ram intake kit already installed, custom cougars also has an exstension kit that will fit aem, injen, weapon R, and customcougars short ram intakes.
