I have been around many vintage through current models of Porsches including full out racing cars. Aside from work in an aftermarket parts distributor I also worked for GingerMan Raceway for awhile. I have worked various PCA events, did volunteer driving instruction (in one instance in a '97 911 Turbo ending up stuffed into a wall with me in the passenger seat) I have had the opportunity to experience many aspects of what is "Porsche"
I respect Porsche's quality, performance and it's heritage, but doesn't mean I like their cars. I find them boring, overengineered, about as original as a Morgan, and the Boxer 6 still sounds like crap. I think Jeremy Clarkson summed Porsches up and my views coincide with his summary.

At Porsche, detail is God. Detail is everything. Good enough is never good enough. Others do things right. Porsche does things better, and then they spend two hours telling you how. It's why Porsches are so very, very good. And so unbelievably dull.
I am also very aware that the Duratec engines were developped in part by Porsche.
