Ok guys, Ryanblacksvt has been helping me decide what to do with my rear of my black svt, and when he took a pic of his brake lights at night, the reflector shined back with the flash. Heres the link to take a look. Link Is it at all possible to make that reflector the standard brake light?? Perhaps with LED's mounted to a wood/metal strip or something similair. Just let me know if I am way off base, or this is do able. Thanks- Chris

Maybe that little reflector could even be rigged as the driving/parking lights instead? I dunno, somebody with brains help me out here!

I know what you speak of. You're talking about the reflectors that are lit up here right? Well, i think to get stuff to light up in there you would probably have to take the lights apart. But something that would work real well to light it would probably be electroluminescent foil...the stuff indiglos are made of. Search on ebay and the net, you can cut it to whatever shape, its real cool. Btw, i think this is the link you wanted.

Ok, i'll try to explain this a bit clearer. In the 5 of 7 pic in his 2n page, minor mods, it shows a picture of the back end of his CSVT. the reflector on the lower portion of the brake light shines back, due to the flash of the camera. I am wondering if it is possible to make the driving lights in the brake lights look like that. So can the reflector be turned into the lights that come on with the headlights, on the rear of the car? I hope that's a better explanation.

Yes, thats exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help. I researched this EL foil, and really couldn't find anything useful about it. As far as I understand, it's a thin sheet (kinda like a pliable plastic sheet) and once you hook up voltage to it, it lights up. But from what I am reading, It wouldn't be bright enough for brake lights, or something of the like. Maybe someone can fill me in on what I might do to use this cool stuff, or at least go LED's.

Well as far as getting a solid rectangle to light up evenly, EL foil is all i can think of right now. And the stuff is fairly bright, have you ever seen indiglo guages at night? They can get pretty bright. If you cut the shape that you want then mount it directly on the lense it would probably give the ligting pattern you want. But in the end i don't know jack really cuz i've never popped open one of the tails, its something i've wanted to do for a while, just need time and money.

Perhaps a crapload of LEDs from top and bottom of the lense shining through it might help??? Or cold cathodes along the edges of the insides?
God graced us with intelligence, let's use it.

Ya, I'm getting busy, but hopefully in a week or so, I can take off the brake light and see what it would take to remove the lenses. I see how ELfoil would work now, LED's would require alot more modification for a mount inside the brake light and all. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll let you know if i come up with anything
