thats right, had car in shop and guy said my main seal(crank?) was leakin oil? took a peek and my serp belt's coated w/oil as is the side of engine and lower accessories. The car never drops oil on driveway, etc. so must have just started. Anyone have this problem? anyone try to tackle this one themselves? It looks like an expensive job to have someone do or a PITA to do myself...

That would be the crank accesory seal, and it's more likely to be your power steering leaking than that. If it is the crank seal it's pretty simple, remove fender splash gaurd, remove accesory belt, remove accesory pulley, replace seal, reinstall. Look at the UDP pulley install instructions to get you 95% of the way there.

I said PS is more likely because almost ALL contours leak fluid from there if they have ank kind of decent mileage - never enough to drip, just gets eveything dark and coated on that side of the engine.

The rear main seal is between the tranny and engine - that one would be at least 800-900 in labor to replace!

Thx Scott. Luckily its not on the engine/trans side, so at worst its the front main seal. Now that I think about it, when installing my diablo chip i noticed that there was fluid under the ps resevuoir. it just seems like even though theres not enough oil/fluid to leave drips wherever parked, it seems like too much to be leaking from ps. Thanks for the info and ill pull off the wheel n splashgard to get a closer look!
