Has anyone got a chart of dimensions for the 3.0 Duratec pistons and rods? If we work this out properly , we may have an alternate source for reciprocating parts.

The 3.0 uses the same rods as the 2.5. The 3.0 has a larger bore, meaning bigger pistons to match. The 2.5 can't easily be bored out to match the bore due to press in cylinder liners, that's why people are swapping the 3.0L short blocks.

The Toyota 3-TC is a 89 mm bore , the 3.0 Duratec is 89.4 mm ,so a + 1 mm slug would fit with a gentle overbore of the 3.0 block.
The big question is the height and the pin diameter. Getting a forged , lower compression piston for the Duratec would open the door for forced induction.

Would boring out the 2.5 be a cheaper way?

I would think that if only increasing it a mil, that you would still be able to use the same piston heads...but change out the rings. I'm actually considering this, I just don't have the money for the 3L yet.

If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

Pressed in steel liners. Maybe 1.5mm overbore with custom pistons. (that's 158ci or 2.6 litre) Not a big change. But yes possible and with custom pistons you could dictate your own CR.

Piston pin hight, piston ratio is also different than the 3TC pistons. I've also been looking into this cause I don't want to get forged pistons but I want to use hypereutic (sp?) pistons.

Email me, I think I might be able to help you out on the piston specs. I've found some 89MM VG30 pistons, but they are too costly for me $1500+
