Many times when I first use the cruise control I find that after I set the speed to be maintained that there is a 3 second delay between my pressing the set button and the throttle being pulled down far enough for the car to get to the speed that I set the cruise control at. This is if I were to set the speed and then lift my foot all the way off the throttle. Of course during the delay the car slows down 3-5 mph and then gradually comes up to the speed that I was at when I set the cruise control. Sometimes I find that I have to press the set button a couple of times before the system will react and pick the speed of the car back up to where it should be.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know why it does this? The dealer told me that the cruise control is working fine but this doesn't seem normal to me.

My 98 Mystik is like this too. It takes a few seconds for the cruise to kick in. I've always thought that there seemed to be too much slack in the control cable, but never bothered to investigate further (it's not so severe as to anoy me.
