I have a friend in a 4-cylinder unmodified accord that says he's hit 145. I told him he's full of crap.

I have had my svt doing 150 on a flat stretch, with 3 other people in the car. That is before I did a good amount of my mods.

His speedometer is probably reading 145 mph. A lot of Japanese cars seem to read much higher at high speeds. I had a 240SX and it would read much higher at high speeds.

Well whos to say the contour speedo is right, at high speeds?
I have had mine "showing over 140 MPH, but truely who knows how fast I was going.
P.S. This was on a track somewhere, of course, I just don't remember the name of that track, I think it was like I-88 motor speedway, or something. My car is bone stock with a drop in K&N.

I remember reading a study on this, supposedly GM and Fords had much more reliable speedometers (all domestics tested better). Koreans were next, followed by Japanese, and Germans were the worst.

Tachometer! You can calculate your speed with your tach and the contour speedometer is very close to the real speed.

We also have a VW V-6 Passat with a 5 speed and it also reads dead on. From my experience, the Japanese were the worst! The Germans were the best followed by the domestics.
