Whats the least amount of money u can spend and still put together a decent system?

Just lookin for ideas here...I guess this requires a lil work but if u like audio I guess it'd be kinda fun.

Just lookin for people to come up with the best system possible spending the least amount of money.

Waaaaaaayyyy too abstract to generate discussion. Take a look at this thread - $1000 Audio Challenge.

Name a ballpark budget and we will go from there. 300.00, 1000, 2000?

Well, I won't call it the best system out there, but to kick things off for the thread, I did:

Sony CDX-R3300 $119.99 + $18 s/h
2 pairs Polk EX-357 $37.99/pr + $12 s/h
From National Audio Center on ebay.

Wiring harnesses from CC $36.06

I still need
DIN tool $5
Soldering iron + solder + wire + ??

So for roughly $275 + some tools I think that I'll make out OK.

If I could spend some more I'd consider
budget component set group buy at ~ $85/pr incl shipping
Any capable HU @ roughly $150 delivered
Infinity basslink @ $230 delivered
4 channel amp? $150?

$700 or so for a pretty decent system.

About the only thing I'd upgrade after that is the subwoofer to a more customized solution, and/or a more powerful amp and/or a satellite capable HU. Hopefully still under $1K.

It always amazes me that the OEM Bose audio systems are > $1K options on automobiles

Let's see if we can keep this simple...

HU one of these $125
avionixx $255 is always nice.. CLASS T.. WHOO HOO!! and you can power...
CDT's for fun... $215
With a cute sub..
elemental 12kx for $75
and can't forget 4 channel 4gauge installation kit! $36

total comes out to...
$706 + a few extra shipping costs.. if it were to Hawaii.. probably about $800est... for you.. a lot less.

Are you serious? The wiring harness can be bought at wal-mart for about $5!

Then I guess good for me that I didn't open 'em yet!
Looks like a trip to Walmart is in order for DIN tools and wiring harnesses.
