By 2007: The state must submit a plan to the EPA for reducing smog levels to meet new federal standards. Auto emissions testing will have to be part of that plan. States that don't comply risk losing federal highway money.

In a related story people keep wondering why companies keep going to Mexico and China, duh in part because of the EPA. Thsoe countries hardly have any regulations on toxic dumping, and we have so many here, it cost millions a year for these companies to dump the toxic stuff correctly, cost almost nothing over there.

The EPA needs to stop getting the standards tougher and tougher and just leave it be if they want companies to stay here and more to move here.

I wouldn't say good-bye to performance Chad. With the advancement of perf cats nowadays its not going to be a problem. Also consider how much money is spent/made to increase performance and those who "rise to the demand" and start now and going to be the ones who get paid in a couple years. I also look to the car makers to squeeze more performance out of their cars, I mean its been increasing over the last couple years so why stop now I also believe that perf diesels are going to be in our future and as usual, Europe has them already

Don't even worry about it guys. My SVT with custom exhaust passed the Nevada smog test no problem. I can't imagine MI would be any more strict.
BTW, my least favorite pet is a cat.
