YEAH!!!! Someone actually agrees with me that an electric supercharger IS feasable! .

Terry, I've been preaching to the non-believers for quite some time about that kind of setup. Better pics of the setup and manufacturer can be found here:
http://www.turbodyne.com/products/1500.html http://www.turbodyne.com/products/2200.html http://www.turbodyne.com/products/2500.html

I know that the pretty much ANY engine could benefit from those things.

That valve cover looks like it's a 2.3L Ford I-4. Like in a Ranger or something.

I'm sure they sound just like a turbo except they spin up faster

How much do they think they're gonna sell those things for?? i admit it has peaked my curiosity but i just can't see it making as much boost as an exhaust driven turbine, or belt driven blower. I figure the most it could be worth is 30 hp. unless the impeller speed doesnt increase with engine rpm then probably less hp.

Those things spin up to maximum RPM in about 1.5 seconds. They are made for really large desiel engines, 6 Liters +. They would be as good as or better than ANY forced air induction as far as boost on the 2.5L Duratec. I could be wrong though

If I wasn't putting a turbo on my car, and I had the money, I'd have already installed one of those things!!

We shall see but look at the size of the cables feeding it! ,do we need 1000 CCA and 250 amp alternator!!

Yeah, that's what I'm sayin Terry.

It would spool up very quickly, but the max boost would be less than a traditional turbo, so the area under the boost curve would probably be less, in other words compared to a regular turbo - more low-end, less top-end, plus you would need a much higher output alternator (more FEAD losses)

It's all about balance.
