I actually work on plastic intakes and just wanted to correct a misconception you seem to have. The plastic intakes are actually cheaper than the Aluminium. I know this for a fact because my last job was with a company that makes both plastic and Aluminium intakes. Another bit of information that may be helpful is that the new duratech Taurus' and Escape's have a plastic upper intake.
